Captain Rodney Palmer

West Lexington Fire-Rescue regrets to announce the passing of Captain Rodney Palmer on June 21, 2009. Captain Palmer had been an active member of the department for over 20 years. He will be greatly missed. Please keep the Palmer family in your prayers.
Arrangements
Visitation: June 23, 2009 from 6-8pm at Davidson Funeral Home (Lexington)
Funeral Service: June 24, 2009 at 2pm at Psalms 91 Church. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park.

Heavy Rains Close Roads
Our district experienced heavy rain for a couple of days which led to several road closings in the area due to flash flooding. Below are photos from Pine Ridge Rd as well as Estates Drive.

Structure Fire
Station 71 was dispatched along with stations 73 (Welcome), 64 (Triangle), and Ladder 86 (Midway) to a reported commercial structure fire. Engine 71 arrived on scene to find single-story office structure with heavy fire showing. Personnel forced entry through a gate into the fenced in property and established a water supply as Ladder 86 arrived and setup an elevated master stream operation. Captain Sears (2171) had command.

Structure Fire
Station 71 responded to assist stations 73 (Welcome) and 33 (A-RC-H) on reported structure fire. Station 73 personnel reported heavy smoke conditions in the area prior to arrival. Upon arrival all units operated in a defensive mode due to the involvement of the structure which was used for storage only. Station 71 personnel assisted with fire attack and overhaul operations until released by command. Chief 773 (Sowers) had command.

Structure Fire
Station 71 personnel along with Stations 51 (Reeds) and 73 (Welcome) responded to a reported structure fire. Upon arrival units determined that a fire had began at the rear of the residence and caused damage to the structure. The fire had been extinguished by the resident prior to FD arrival. Station 71 personnel completed overhaul and cleared the scene a short time later.
