Brandon Hutchins is a life-long resident of the West Lexington Community.
He became a member of West Lexington Fire Department in October 1990 as a junior
firefighter, following in the footsteps of many of his relatives, who also were
members of the department. Pri or to being elected as Chief, he held the ranks of Captain and
Deputy Chief. Chief Hutchins maintains numerous certifications including NC
Firefighter II, Hazardous Materials Technician, Emergency Vehicle Driver, NC Driver
/ Operator - Pumps & Aerials, NC Fire Instructor Level II, SCBA specialty Instructor,
Live Burn Instructor, National Registered EMT-P, and several other EMS certifications. Chief Hutchins has an Associates Degree in Emergency Medical Science and is currently
working towards an Associates Degree in Fire Protection Technology. Chief Hutchins is employed
full-time as a Firefighter II with Greensboro Fire Department, in Guilford County. Chief Hutchins is married
to Brooke, who also is a firefighter with the department and has a son Seth.
Chief Hutchins has
been instrumental in the incorporation of medical first responder services being
provided by the fire department as well as the purchase of AED's for the responders
to use. Under the leadership of Chief Hutchins the department has obtained
Light Rescue and Medical Responder certifications through the NC Association of
Rescue & EMS.
